I grew up in New York City, which is about as far from Africa as one can get. At the end of my sophomore year at Columbia doing biological anthropology, I was offered a research assistantship in Kenya and it changed my life.

     After I came back from Kenya, I moved down to Washington, DC and started working for the Jane Goodall Institute in Silver Spring, MD in the Communications Department. After three years there, it was time to go back to Africa, so when I was asked to take over a position doing marketing for the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust in Entebbe, Uganda, I seized the opportunity.
